YOU WILL NEED:

DK YARN STASH- 7 colours and B&W

4mm Hook for Cushion or Blanket options

4.5mm Hook for Jumper option

Scissors

NOTE: If you are going to be buying new yarn for this project and are making the blanket you will need 2 balls of Black yarn and, 9 Balls of yarn in mixed colours.

Hi Guys!

Come join me, for the 5th instalment of the Crochet Quarantine CAL! This week our instalment brings you the TV Tester Stripe! This motif in worked in 2 halves and lets us practice changing colours and working in Treble crochet rows in Part 1 and then working into the side of your work and working rows with live stitch colour changes in Part 2. Follow the video and check out the full instructions for part 5 on the blog. This is our last motif before moving on to finishing off our squares and joining our blocks!

Next week we will be working on sewing in our ends and edging our squares ready to complete your CAL project!

TENSION

If making the blanket or cushion and using DK and a 4mm hook you want a 4 Round Granny Square to equal 10cm X 10 cm .

Top Tip: If you are making for a garment size up a hook size to get a looser drape, using a 4.5mm hook you want a 4 Round Granny Square to equal 12cm X 12cm.

KEY: UK Pattern

CH = Chain

Sp = Space

St = Stitch

SS = Slip Stitch

DC = Double Crochet

TR= Treble

TV TESTER STRIPE

You will want 7 colours for Part 1 and Black and White yarn for Part 2.

MAKE 4 for Blanket

MAKE 1 for Cushion

MAKE 2 for Jumper

FINAL MEASUREMENTS: - If working in a different yarn weight for blanket ignore measurements

Blanket/ Cushion 4mm hook= 19cm Wide X 38cm Long

Jumper 4.5mm hook= 23cm wide X 44cm Long


PART 1- TREBBLE STRIPES

This rectangle is made in 2 Parts. Part 1- working into each st in coloured stripes. Part 2 working along the side of Part 1 into each row edge.


Foundation:
Using frist colour make 16 CH.

Row 1: 1TR into fourth CH from hook (first 3CH count as a TR), 1TR into each CH to end, turn. (14 TR)

Row 2: 3CH (counts as a TR throughout), 1TR into each TR to end, turn.

Repeat row 2 twice more.

Row 5: Change to colour 2, 3CH, 1TR into each TR to end, turn.

Row 6: 3CH, 1TR into each TR to end, turn.

Repeat row 6 twice more.

Row 9: Change to colour 3, 3CH, 1TR into each TR to end, turn.

Row 10: 3CH, 1TR into each TR to end, turn.

Repeat row 10 twice more. Repeat Rows 5 to 12 twice more changing colour every 4 rows. Fasten off.


PART 2- LIVE STITCH STRIPES

Row 1 (RS): Join Black into top of TR at corner of part 1, CH1 (does not count as a ST throughout), working down the long side, work 2DC into each row edge to end, 1DC into last st, Leave last stitch Live. Do not turn. (57 sts)

Row 2 (RS): Join White at start of last row, 3ch (counts as a TR throughout), 1 TR into each dc to end, in Last St close previous rows Live St, turn. (56 sts)

Row 3: Pick up Black yarn where it sits, Pull up loosely and ss through previous rows last ST, 1CH, 1DC into each tr to end, DC into the 3rd CH as your last St, leave end live

Row 4: Pick up White yarn where it sits, put hook through first St and pull through white, 3CH, 1TR into each DC to end, secure last live stitch.

Repeat rows 3 and 4 three more times, then row 3 once. Fasten off
