Katie Jones is an inspirational knitwear designer that teams playful aesthetics with serious ethics! The brand’s #WASTENOT approach utilises designer surplus and celebrates artisanal hand craftsmanship, with all pieces being consciously crafted in the brand’s London studio.
Katie graduated in 2013 from MA Fashion Knitwear at Central Saint Martins under the late Professor Louise Wilson, OBE. Having worked with John Galliano, Diane Von Furstenberg, Mark Fast and Romance was Born, she launched her eponymous label for Autumn/Winter 2014 with the British Fashion Council’s Estethica Emerging Talents.
Katie went on to be part of and win Selfridges Bright New Things award in 2016, presenting her wooly wonderland window in their Oxford Street Store from Jan-March 2016. The brand has received international profile being sold worldwide and being featured in many fashion and craft publications such as Dazed and Confused, AnOther, Vice, The Guardian, Vogue.com, Vogue Japan, Elle Germany, Mollie Makes, Inside Crochet, Selvedge Magazine, Simply Crochet and Stylebubble.
The brand celebrates traditional and detail intensive processes focusing in Crochet, Knit, Denim and Leather work, with garments being unique oneoff’s, bespoke or made to order to celebrate each garments individuality. The brand is run by Katie and her Mum, Annie and now launches its range of DIY makes.
The brand focuses on sustainable practice embracing Katie’s Granny's vision of making something beautiful from nothing and consciously addressing issues of over-consumerism, the brand creates wearable, artisanal collections that are big on colour and texture.
More than just creating beautiful garments, the brand creates playful experiences that encourage and champion social and environmental change. Running and participating in a wide range of workshops and events which let you interact and engage with the brand, sharing skills and knowledge on textile crafts and sustainable Fashion.
Katie’s passion is to keep making local and to connect the client with their clothing. After collaborating with Wool and the Gang on a range of patterns and running many workshops the brand has moved away from wholesale to create bespoke oneoff pieces and DIY collections.
